Ever since "patti" made her debut last deepavalli (refering to the petronas Deepavali advert recently) She's always been that someone I looked forward to watching on TV whenever Deepavali is just around the corner. It was hilarious to watch some of our very own "homies" doing their usual "thang" until grandma came to the scene just to abrupt it all in a flash. Amusement aside, somehow the advertisement was thought-provoking. Believe it or not it showcases the real scenario on youths today. You'll be surprised to see the number of "soul brothers" or "mat salleh celups" on the street nowadays. Manglish which is widely used in our country today somehow is not cool enough to be considered a slang anymore . It abruptly injected a couple of " yo yo yos & wazzups in the sentences to enhance the "street lingo".

All that above only concludes to one thing. Were not remembering our roots. Why is it humiliating to even consider ourselves as a Malaysian. I guess we have surpassed the "living on a tree " pesona almost a decade ago. But as much our ministers trying hard to instil "love our country" values into our lives, we somehow bound to be fascinated by anything "foreign" for obvious reasons... I mean its easier to identify yourselves with the likes of snoop dogg, 50cents or maybe Orlando Bloom rather than any prominent figure Malaysian . The reason? I seriously do not know..

But deep down .. I'm eventually proud of being a Malaysian... I mean where elselah(The lahs..Oh how beautiful these words are.. Only a Malaysian could pull it off so well)could u find three different ethnic races sipping a nice hot cup of Teh tarik at the nearest Mamak stall, the kunjung mengunjung culture which eventually creates an open mindedness & a spirit of togetherness amongst us Malaysian during festive season...These are antiques of our beloved country and I do reckon we have to be proud of our uniqueness of being a Malaysian... So the celups out there.. Its okay to be cool but it aint cool enough to be in denial amongst your countrymen.

I was once a care free child, lookin forward to leading that much hyped about "adulthood." somehow I find it fascinating 2 fit in those shoes......studying was a chore... and I'm puzzled still on how I got hooked into writing.... I've 2 admit its the only passion which kept me goin.... I may not be some nobel prize winning author wz groupies anxiously waiting to have your book as the next subject to "rave" about on their next book club meeting.... I write as it helps me 2 ooze those nerves out from my system....

I remembered clearly when the writing bug hit me... It was 1987... I was in year 3 .. The writing task was apparently in Bahasa Melayu & I mastered the language pretty well at that age..... ( I assumed I was) and I was required 2 write about the aliens invading the island.... My teacher was astonished with my end product & she apparently thought I plagiarised the whole story.....probably it was a spoof between star wars & orang minyak or somethin....But frankly speaking my imagination took me to places which I least expected & it obviously helped..my story was the highlight that afternoon... call it pride or somewhat ego... that story made a turning point of looking at my life narratively.. life which beared a little relevance to the world I knew about.... thats when i realised how mightier my pen was back then.....
